Calculation rules & limitations
- Both strategies use the same total budget and the same final BTC price. Lump sum buys on your first scheduled purchase date.
- The first DCA purchase happens on the start date. Every 2 weeks means every 14 days. Monthly purchases use the start day, clamped to the last day of shorter months.
- Daily mode uses Coin Metrics’ daily closing price, fixed at 00:00 UTC the following day. Dates refer to the provider’s price dates. Hourly mode uses Binance’s hourly candle opening price, with purchase hours in UTC.
- Hourly valuation uses the opening price of the final completed hour on the selected end date. Missing purchase or valuation prices stop the calculation; they are never interpolated.
- Fees come out of the entered budget. Uninvested cash earns no interest. Values assume no sale at the end; selling fees, taxes, spread, slippage, and exchange minimum order sizes are excluded.
- Return means profit divided by total contributions, not an annualized return. Chart lines may be simplified for display; calculations use all scheduled purchases. BTC chart markers are sampled for large schedules.
- A result describes your chosen historical period. It does not establish which strategy will perform better in the future.
